Some users may feel that the reminders that an updated version is available to download may be more frequent than is desired.
Fade In really tries not to overwhelm with frequent updates. It lets a given update sit on the server for a while after it's been uploaded before Fade In prompts the user to download. That way, especially when multiple updates are released in relatively quick succession, users are not notified every time that a new one is available.
On the other hand, there are occasionally updates that provide significantly improved features, functionality, and stability. In those cases, it's of greater importance that the updates are distributed to users as efficiently as possible.
The current approach is intended to try to balance a reasonable frequency of updates with making sure that everyone is running the best version of the software possible.Tags: updates
