Final Draft (FDX) uses the General element style for basic text that is not formatted as any other particular element type. When an FDX file is imported to Fade In, the General element style is imported as Unformatted Text.

An issue may arise when the General style has been modified with nonstandard indentation instead of using the full line width.

When Fade In imports the General style, it will base the certain formatting off the General style's indentation, such as title page text. (Title pages in FDX files do not contain any specific element formatting.) If the General style indentation has been modified, this may result in indenting/outdenting that makes reformatting more difficult later on.

It is recommended to, if possible, make sure the General element style is a full-width, unformatted line before saving the FDX file to import to Fade In.

(You can also choose to re-apply the relevant template in Fade In after import, i.e., the Screenplay (Final Draft) template or another appropriate template, using File > Templates > Apply Template. Note that this may require reformatting of the title page or other text if the relative paragraph indentation changes.)
