Differences between the Mac App Store and non-App Store versions

Some small differences exist between the Mac App Store version and the non-App Store version of Fade In Professional Screenwriting Software.

  • The Mac App Store version does not require a registration key. Instead it uses a receipt generated by the Mac App Store.
  • The Mac App Store version can only be used on OS X.

Certain differences are due to "sandboxing" restrictions and limitations that Apple places on the functionality of Mac App Store programs:

  • The Mac App Store version saves autosave backup files in the folder /User/<username>/Library/Containers/com.generalcoffee.fadein/Data/Library/Application Support/Fade In/autosave instead of /User/<username>/Library/Application Support/Fade In/autosave.
  • Installing a user dictionary on the Mac App Store version requires the user to select both the .dic file and the accompanying .aff file (whereas the non-App Store version selects the .aff file automatically).
